Track Records of Forensic & Expert Cases
London Petrotech's Forensic Engineering Track Records
At London Petrotech Engineering Ltd, our forensic engineering track records demonstrate proven expertise in investigating complex failures and supporting expert witness cases across multiple industries. Each engagement reflects our commitment to technical accuracy, legal compliance, and actionable insights.
Diversified Forensic Engineering Track Records Across Industries
Our experience spans oil and gas, renewables, shipping and maritime, and infrastructure sectors. We combine advanced laboratory investigations, root cause analysis, and engineering simulations to deliver defensible technical opinions as part of expert duties and in compliance with CPR, TCC, and TAE‘s guidelines.
In oil and gas, we’ve conducted several root-cause failure analysis from downhole and well bore equipment such as an Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs), coil tubing, and wellbore casing to subsea and offshore cases such as control valves, 16” sour multiphase pipelines, and 32” wet gas export pipelines. Onshore investigations cover heat exchanger tube bundles, desalination plant piping (22Cr Duplex SS), and pressure vessel nozzle failures.
Beyond oil and gas, we’ve analyzed turbine blade failures in aircraft engines, hull components damage in cargo ships, and superheater tube ruptures in sugarcane plants. Our expertise extends to renewable energy, including structural failures in Offshore Floating Wind Turbines (OFWT).
Key Case Types
London Petrotech Engineering Ltd (LPE) has been involved in several forensic engineering and/or expert appointments cases over the past several years. The involvements were vary, from laboratory investigation and failure analysis to a comprehensive root-cause analysis or in some cases LPE was appointed as expert by the claimant or defendant parties. The following show a showcase and examples of our past forensic engineering and expert witness cases in various industry sectors.
- Downhole and Wellbore Component Failures:
- Electrical Submersible Pump at the downhole of a crude oil producing well
- Coil tubing integrity issues for a well bore of a wet gas producing well,
- Failure and collapse of wellbore casings.
- Offshore/Subsea Components:
- Leakage and failure of several control valves at a topside production platform in the flare line,
- Failure of a 16” subsea pipelines carrying multiphase hydrocarbon,
- Failure of a 32” wet gas export pipelines
- Onshore Oil & Gas:
- Failure and leakage of a heat exchanger tube bundles,
- Leakage in the desalination plant piping made of 22Cr Duplex SS,
- Rupture of a pressure vessel nozzle failures in a gas processing plant.
- Aerospace:
- Cracking in the airflow profile of first-stage turbine blades in an aircraft engine
- Failure of rotor’s vanes in an aircraft engines
- Maritime & Shipping:
- Failure and fracture of a cargo ship hull components,
- Excessive corrosion of the hull of a cargo ship
- Industrial:
- Leakage and pinholes in superheater tubes in sugarcane plant boilers
- Infrastructure:
- Leakage of a 72″ water pipeline
- Renewable Energy:
- Active blast tank failures in Offshore Floating Wind Turbines
