Corrosion Engineering & Corrosion Integrity Management

At London Petrotech, we leverage our extensive experience in numerous upstream and downstream projects to offer a wide range of services. These services are not limited to the oil and gas sector but also extend to other industries such as power plants and renewables.

In the realm of corrosion engineering, we provide the following services during the FEED study or EPCI phases of projects:

  • Identification of corrosion and erosion damage mechanisms, conducting corrosion threat assessments. This includes defining corrosion loops for piping systems and equipment in accordance with applicable standards like API 571 .
  • Calculation and prediction of corrosion rates using accepted industry tools and modeling methods such as ECE, Predict, Multicorp, DeWaard-Milliams, NORSOK M506, and more.
  • Calculation and prediction of erosion rates using industry-accepted tools and modeling methods such as DNV-RP-O501, Sand Production Pipe Saver (SPPS), and others.
  • Conducting qualitative or semi-quantitative corrosion risk assessments during the design phase.
  • Developing corrosion management plans (CMP) for various project types, including refineries, petrochemical plants, offshore wellhead production platforms, FPSOs, pipelines, and flowlines. This includes definition of requirements for corrosion monitoring systems and corrosion mitigation/control methods.
  • Preparation of corrosion inhibition selection and qualification protocols.
  • Conducting materials and chemical compatibility assessments.
  • Developing cathodic protection philosophy and conducting cathodic protection design for offshore and onshore pipelines as well as subsea and offshore structures
  • Developing anti-corrosion and insulation coating selection philosophy for piping system, equipment, pipelines and flowlines, etc.

As part of our corrosion integrity management services we offer the following services for both upstream and downstream sectors of oil and gas industry as well as other sectors such as renewables and power plants:

  • Providing support to project RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) and integrity engineers in identifying damage mechanisms according to API 571 and other relevant standards.
  • Preparation of Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs) in compliance with API 970 requirements, including periodic review, updates, and action planning.
  • Defining corrosion loops/circuits and marking up PFD (Process Flow Diagram) and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) drawings.
  • Conducting POF (Probability of Failure) and COF (Consequence of Failure) based corrosion risk assessments.
  • Developing Corrosion Control Matrices (CCM).
  • Marking up isometrics to define and optimize Thickness Measurement Locations (TML) and Condition Monitoring Locations (CMLs) points.
  • Preparing relevant corrosion management strategy documents such as CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) corrosion management strategy, dead-leg corrosion management strategy, including dead-leg register and drawing mark-up, and more.
  • Providing support to project RBI and integrity engineers in developing inspection plans and work scopes, Integrity Operating Windows (IOW) as per API 584, Written Scheme of Examinations (WSE), anomalies register and assessment, lesson-learned and action items for the project, participating in performance audits and workshops, and more.
  • Acting as a corrosion Subject Matter Expert (SME) on behalf of the client in projects and attending relevant workshops, audits, document reviews, and other related activities.fine
